Did you know?

For a product to be classified as soap, it must contain an alkali (like lye) and natural oils and fats. The oils bind with the lye and go through a chemical process called saponification, yielding soap, a versatile cleaning agent.

Aleppo Soap

Aleppo soap is handmade, hot process soap, named for the region of Syria where it was created. It is made traditionally with two types of oils: olive oil and laurel berry oil. Because both of these oils are soft, it takes a lot longer for this type of soap to cure - at least 6 months.

Modern Aleppo soap is a cold process version of the same recipe and sometimes includes the use of other oils. I have added a little castor oil to this soap to help with the creation of more bubbles. This soap will be available at the earliest in late July.
